In 1995, the 33647 zip code was ranked in the Top Ten in the U.S. for Fastest Growing Upscale Communities. By the year 2013, one third of Hillsborough County's residents will reside in New Tampa.   • Infrastructure
    Tampa is constantly trying to improve itself. Rated as one of the best up and coming cities to live in, the City of Tampa wants to improve to make it the BEST city to live in. With modest living expenses, it looks like Tampa is well on its way. The City of Tampa is currently working on projects to improve the city and its economy including road re-surfacing, sidewalk projects, residential streetlighting, and improving public transportation.
  • Schools
    Three quarters of Hillsborough County Public Schools have received either an A or B rating based on the FCAT, Florida’s statewide standardized test. The education has continuously been top tier in the Tampa Bay area. The district was recently awarded $100 million grant to further improve teaching styles and how teachers are evaluated. Tampa Bay is the perfect area to relocate a family to help better your children’s education.

  • Hotels
    Elegant architecture and fun events lead to a lot of interesting things in Tampa. Le Meridien is a hotel that recently opened in Downtown Tampa, but it’s not the location that makes it fun- it’s a re-purposed courthouse. The innovative design of the hotel gives it a classic look on the outside with a modern twist on the inside.

  • For Foodies:
    The New Tampa area has plenty of top ranked cuisine the entirety of Florida. Between posh restaurants like Bern’s Steak House or the Columbia, to a dive restaurant Taco Bus (yes they literally serve tacos out of a bus), New Tampa is truly a Foodie’s heaven. This blog is completely devoted to the tastes that Tampa Bay has to offer.

  • Attractions:
    The New Tampa area has so much to do and offer for entertainment. From nightlife at Channelside to family friendly fun at Busch Gardens, there is a variety of amenities for all ages and walks of life. Channelside and South Howard Boulevard include clubs and bars for all kinds of taste, from MacDinton’s Irish Pub, to a trendy club such as Jackson’s. For family fun, there are attractions such as MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry), the Florida Aquarium, and the Lowry Park Zoo. No matter what kind of entertainment you’re looking for, Tampa has it!
Tampa Culture:

  • Museums and Fine Arts:
    Tampa has many kinds of museums, including the Florida Holocaust Museum, Tampa Museum of Art,the Salvador Dali Museum and even USF’s own Museum of Contemporary Art. These places facilitate learning and a creative way for expression.
    If the visual arts aren’t appealing to you, there are many forms of the arts found in Tampa, such as drama and musicals at the Straz Center and at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. The classic form of the arts can also be found in Tampa with Tampa Opera, or the Florida Orchestra tours to help give life a splash of culture.

  • Food Markets:
    Tampa offers a lot of culture that you may not find elsewhere. If you’re up for it, New Tampa offers a wide variety of farmers markets every weekend, including the Sweetwater Organic Farm. This is a seasonal farm where you can go pick your own vegetables to take home. The farm also offers weekly yoga, bands, vendors, and entertainment for all of those who attend its Sunday Market.

  • Historic Ybor:
    Ybor is drenched in the rich history of some of Tampa’s earliest founders. The Spanish, Cuban and Italian influences soon became a popular spot for many cigar businesses. Ybor is designated as a National Historic Landmark District, couple that with Columbia Restaurant, and the L’Unione Italiana (The Italian Union) and it creates a place like no other. Ybor City also offers historic walking tours to help better know the city and all it has to offer.
